Large, hybrid tea shaped buds are borne singly or in clusters on basal-stems and side branches all season long.  The full, double blooms are velvet red.

‘Don Juan’ may be kept as a neat 2 m high shrub by trimming it, or it will do equally well as a climber when the branches are supported over a pergola or high fence.
