Pompadour

R150.00

Description

Pompadour is a particular hairstyle. The basic concept is having a large volume of hair swept upwards from the face and worn high over the forehead, and sometimes up-swept around the sides and back as well. The hairstyle was erroneously names after Marquise de Pompadour (around 1750), who was the official chief mistress of Kind Louis XV. She apparently did not wear her hair in such a style, but we suppose the name lent itself well and was thus adapted.

The quartered rosette shape of this particular variety’s bloom reminds one of the curls and frills of such showily arranged hair.

It is a shrub rose that grows to shoulder height. The weight of the bunches of huge, very full blooms of nostalgic shape, cause the strong canes to arch to all sides.

They are of a medium pink and exude an incredibly strong fragrance.
